Norman Thelwell, was one of England's best cartoonists. He died in 2004 age 80. He is probably best known for the cartoons of little girls and their ponies. The "Thelwell Ponies" have become an icon in the English language and equine community. The first cartoon was published in 1953 in Punch. Today the iconic ponies are reproduced on a variety of gift items for us to enjoy.
Two very round hairy ponies and small little girls star in his first book Angles on Horseback (1957). Other books followed and are still available today. You may order the CAVALCADE OF PONIES and THELWELL PANDORAMA here on the www.equinegiftboutique.com. The pony named kipper is often just refered to as "thelwell". His owner was Penelope.
